Insect Services
We have customized programs to offer you. We mold our services to your
needs and concerns.
When we come out for the inspection or first
treatment, we perform a thorough inspection. At this time we determine
the severity of the problem and try to identify any conditions which
are conducive to the infestation. During the inspection we will talk
with you:
- Where have you seen the pests?
- How often do you see them?
- Have you tried to get rid of them yourself?
- How long have you had this problem?
We believe customer communication is essential for a successful treatment.
We
also can give you recommendations on sealing up your property from
the invaders. Often, there are simple things you can do to make your
home or business less desirable to pests.

Termites
Every year in America, termites can cause an estimated two billion dollars
in damage not covered by homeowner’s insurance. At Pest Detective,
L.L.C. we offer both spot treatments as well as baiting programs. This
service can provide you with peace of mind; your life’s biggest
investment, your home, needs protection. Because of our concern with
the environment and due to its proven technology, we have chosen
to offer our customers the Advance® Termite Bait System.
This baiting
system effectively eliminates termite colonies and provides on-going
protection against new colonies.
- The active ingredients are underground where termites can reach them,
but away from children and pets.
- The stations are installed outside your home and are unobtrusive.
- Also, the Advance Termite Baiting Program is less invasive; there
is no drilling of home foundation as with liquid treatments.
Our Termite Baiting Program consists of installation of the bait stations
around your home and quarterly visits to check the bait stations. Give
us a call to schedule your termite bait station installation!

One of the key steps to pest control is identification of the pest. Below
are some of Pest Detective’s “Most Wanted Insects” which
often enter into homes uninvited.

Most Wanted Insects
Spiders

Spider
In
the spring or fall you will probably notice spiders in your house. Spiders
can live in our homes over the winter -- anywhere they can stay warm
and find food. Most
spiders are hunters. They catch their prey either by roaming or by web
building. The best thing to prevent a spider breakout is keep them out
of our homes. Keep an eye on boxes you bring into your home; spiders
or egg sacs can be hidden in the corners. Also, keep doors closed and
windows screens in place.

Ants

Carpenter Ants
There are
many different types of ants. Ants found commonly in Indiana are the Pavement
Ant, Carpenter Ant, Citronella Ant, and Pharoah Ant. Carpenter Ants are
often those big black or brown ants you see running around the exterior of
your home. Pay attention to these ants and where they are going. They
are a very important part of the ecosystem but can be a major problem
when they enter your home because they will tunnel through wood.
They can destroy the structural integrity of a building.
Ants can be very difficult to get rid
of. Diagnosis of the type of ant
you have in your home is the first step in dealing with your ant
problem.

Fleas
The
most common flea to Indiana is the Cat Flea. Even though it is named the Cat
Flea this flea can be found on dogs, cats, raccoons and other wild animals. Adult
fleas eat blood so they need a warm-blooded host to survive and reproduce. Fleas
are a nuisance but they can also carry disease. Dog and cat fleas carry
tapeworms that are capable of infecting humans if you accidentally
eat a flea.

many types of wasps and bees common to Indiana. These include, but are
not limited to the Paper Wasp, Cicada Killer, Mud Dauber, Yellow Jacket,
Carpenter Bee, and Bald Faced Hornet.

Cicada Killer
These stinging insects are important
to the ecosystem, but can become a hassle when they enter our homes. Oftentimes
they will be found in chimneys, under bay windows, in soffits, storage sheds,
and trees. As with most pests, identification is the key to helping
to resolve the pest problem.

Bumblebees
Oftentimes
Pest Detective, L.L.C. can resolve your problem with a single treatment.

Lady Beetles
Multicolored
Asian Lady Beetles are not native to the United States and are different
than the Lady Bugs you may remember as a child. The Multicolored Asian
Lady Beetles were brought into the U.S. as a biological control and have
spread from the original target areas. The native habitat of this insect
are the nooks and crannies of hillsides which is why you will find
them crawling over your home on sunny days in the late fall.
Tight fitting
soffit vents, sealed cracks and crevices, and well-maintained window
screens are important in keeping these insects out of your home. To decrease the
invasion Pest Detective, L.L.C. has a program. Call before fall to schedule
your treatment.
